Using malware, a teenager hacked into international e-commerce companies.

Employees of the Department of Cyber Police of the National Police of Ukraine thwarted the illegal activities of a 17-year-old resident of the city of Chernivtsi (Ukraine), who hacked into automated systems of international e-commerce companies.

According to the investigation, with the help of malware, a teenager took possession of user confidential data, which he sold on a cybercrime forum and through one of the messengers. During a search of the place of residence of the Chernivtsi law enforcement officers seized computer equipment, smartphones and storage media. The results of a forensic computer-technical examination confirmed the fact of unauthorized interference in automated systems and revealed more than 300 thousand text files with personal data of millions of users around the world.

The attacker is suspected of committing crimes under paragraphs 1 and 2 of Article 361-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (“Unauthorized marketing or distribution of information with limited access stored in electronic computers (computers), automated systems, computer networks or storage media”) . The suspect faces a sentence of five years in prison.

Recall that last month during the DATA law enforcement operation, cyber police officers raided several regions of Ukraine and exposed sellers of personal data. In addition, in May of this year, the Security Service of Ukraine detained a cybercriminal known under the pseudonym Sanix and possibly involved in the Collection # 1 data leak .
