AMD said that information related to current and future GPUs was stolen from its network. Intellectual property was appropriated by a hacker girl who hacked into one of the company's computers or servers, and she is currently trying to sell it.
AMD did not disclose the contents of the stolen files, however, according to the Torrentfreak resource, they contained codes associated with the latest Navi 10, Navi 21 (aka Big Navi) and Arden processors.
The identity of the hacked AMD hacker was not established on March 26, 2020, but, according to Torrentfreak, they managed to contact her. The cracker said that, in her opinion, the information stolen by her could cost up to $ 100 million. She is currently looking for a buyer, but she already has a “B” plan in case anyone is interested in AMD’s intellectual property.
If this happens, the hacker is going to make the information publicly available, and it is not yet known how both outcomes will affect AMD's activities. According to the cracker, she did not even have to make significant efforts to steal information - she just got on one PC or company’s server, where these files were stored in unencrypted form.

At the same time, the company claims that the information stolen by the hacker is hardly useful to competitors. She contacted the company in December 2019, a month after the hack, and offered to buy all the information from her. The amount requested by her at AMD was not announced.
“We are aware that the offender has files that have not yet been made public. We believe that stolen intellectual property will not affect the competitiveness or security of our developments, ”AMD representatives said. In addition, they added that they still do not know what other information the hacker got access to. This means that in fact, she could steal much more information that could be useful to competitors AMD.
“We cooperate with law enforcement agencies and other experts in the framework of the ongoing criminal investigation,” the chip maker staff said.
