A network of bots using artificial intelligence to remove clothes from photographs of women was discovered on the Telegram messenger. According to the information security company Sensity, at least 100,000 fake “naked” images were created using these tools.
At the same time, the bot administrator does not see this as a problem, calling the whole process a regular "entertainment". Researchers and The Verge sent a request to Telegram to find out why such content is available in the app, but have not received a response yet.
The publication writes that the bots are mainly uploaded with photos of women. Usually, women intend to get even with their rivals through pornography, and men intend to repay a refusal, say, for leaving. And this is where the danger lies - this kind of content can be used for bullying or extortion. Basically, originals of photos for fake shots are taken from social networks.
The bot allegedly used the DeepNude service, which was announced to be closed in June 2019. The developers of the mechanism, "stripping" people, noted that the likelihood of its "incorrect" use has become too high, and also suggested that copies of DeepNude will reappear on the Web, but they will no longer bear responsibility for their actions.
