"Police officers, together with the FSB office in the Republic of Dagestan, discovered mining farms for which a resident of Khasavyurt illegally connected to electricity networks, causing damage to the grid company in the amount of over 4.5 million rubles," says Wolf on the Russian Interior Ministry website.

According to her, in April, a 36-year-old man rented two non-residential premises in the Novolaksky and Kazbekovsky districts of the republic, where he organized mining farms to produce lightcoins and bitcoins. One of the mini-stations in the form of three high power transformer units was buried in the ground. In addition, he illegally connected to the power line to operate another station. Police found components from computers and about a thousand video cards with cooling fans, the official representative said.

A criminal case has been initiated against the organizer under the clause "Causing property damage through deception or breach of trust", which provides for up to 5 years in prison. He is in custody. The preliminary investigation is ongoing.
