Elderly people will be able to voluntarily abandon some of the functions of bank cards in order to protect against fraud.
Representatives of the All-Russian Popular Front (ONF) proposed to protect pensioners from fraudsters and put forward an initiative according to which older people will be able to voluntarily refuse certain functions of bank cards, for example, online payments and outgoing money transfers. This was reported by the Izvestia edition with reference to the materials of the ONF for the meeting of the expert council of the Central Bank.
The ONF proposed to enable pensioners to restrict online payments and outgoing transfers from their cards, but at the same time leave the functions of cash withdrawals, payments in stores and incoming transfers.
60% of the victims of banking scams are between the ages of 50 and 80. If the cardholder uses only the minimum necessary functionality, for example, cash withdrawals and payment via the terminal, then the criminals will not have the opportunity to steal money.
