A resident of Mikhailovsk appeared before the court on charges of hacker attacks on information resources.
According to the press service of the Shpakovsky District Court of the Stavropol Territory, being an active user of the Network and possessing the skills to work with software and in the field of information protection, the accused was actively interested in various hacker tools that allow access to foreign computers.
After studying the theoretical part, a man in May 2018 downloaded programs designed for remote access to desktops on the Internet, as well as tools to search for various vulnerabilities on websites, and decided to try them out in action.
During the interrogation, the “hacker” explained that he did not carry out attacks for mercenary purposes, but simply wanted to find out how such programs work. However, he was aware of the illegality of their actions.
In respect of men initiated a criminal case under Part 1 of Art. 273 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (use of computer programs, which are intended to neutralize the means of protecting computer information). The article provides for punishment in the form of restriction of liberty for a term of up to 4 years, or correctional work for the same term or imprisonment for a term of up to 4 years with payment of a fine of up to 200 thousand rubles.
