The most gullible users were residents of Eastern Europe.
The statistical office Eurostat has published the results of a survey of residents of the European Union countries on the problems of transferring personal data to social or professional Internet services.
According to the survey, one in four EU citizens between the ages of 16 and 74 avoided providing personal information to online services in 2019 for security reasons.
Among the EU member states, France (40%) recorded the highest distrust rate, followed by the Netherlands (39%), Finland (37%), Slovakia and Sweden (36%).
On the other hand, Eastern Europeans turned out to be the most trusting users. Only 6% of respondents in Lithuania, 8% in Bulgaria and Hungary and 9% in Croatia and Romania hid their personal data when communicating with social and professional Internet services.
