Over the past few years, the mysterious group has been releasing hacking tools almost daily, which contain a hidden malicious component. Obviously, the hidden “surprise” is intended for other cybercriminals whose devices the group wants to access.
An interesting campaign was reported by Cybereason’s cybersecurity team. All the tools released by the mystical group contained njRAT-type malware that could provide full access to third-party hacker computers.
“It seems to me that someone very wisely uses the shortest path to penetrate the maximum number of computers. It can be an individual or a group of individuals, ”explains Amit Serper, who is responsible for Cybereason’s security strategy.
“Instead of active operations to infiltrate computers, criminals simply supply their tools with a malicious component, and then distribute them for free. As a result, any attacker using these tools will be a victim of hacking. ”
According to the Cybereason team, she managed to identify more than a thousand njRAT samples in the process of analyzing the activities of the mysterious cybercriminal group. However, in fact, as experts emphasized, the campaign is much larger.
At the same time, the productivity of the group is striking - new samples of malicious tools are published almost daily. The site for their placement is most often forums of hacking topics.
