The Department of Justice has filed a lawsuit against the company, which will be considered in the next few weeks According to Politico, the Department of Justice and the US attorney general want to oblige Google to sell the Chrome browser to a third-party company. This step will allow us to defeat the monopoly formed on the market. The trial is planned to begin in the near future. However, following the aforementioned lawsuit, the US authorities will file a lawsuit against the Android operating system used by Google.

According to the newspaper, the authorities intend to order the company through a court to sell part of its assets, including the world's most popular browser. At the same time, prosecutors consult on this issue with competitors of Google and outside companies - together they will have to decide which part of the business they will demand in the lawsuit.

The DOJ is unhappy that Google is refusing to support third-party cookies in its browser. Companies are also accused of promoting their own products by placing them on the first lines of search results. And the use of an automated platform for purchasing an advertising tool DoubleClickBidManager (it is fully integrated with all Google Analytics 360 Suite products).

Proving that today's tech giants are monopolies that harm consumers is difficult because corporations like Google provide most of their services for free using advertising. At the same time, many experts are concerned that it is a purely political decision to bring charges against the corporation practically before the general election.

According to the findings of anti-monopoly officials, 81% of web requests from computers and 94% from mobile devices go through the Google browser in the United States. This leads to the fact that the company can independently set standards throughout the industry. A similar situation in the late 1990s and early 2000s developed with Microsoft with its Internet Explorer, but then government agencies did not interfere with what was happening on the network.
